Hosted - Cannot copy or paste in or out of Citrix session

Learn how to solve the problem If you are unable to copy, paste and drag/drop files in and out of a Citrix session where this functionality was previously available.

Written by Terence Cassidy

Multiple customers have reported a loss of copy, paste and drag/drop functionality between Citrix sessions and their desktop after their Citrix Workspace App auto-upgraded to the latest version. This is a local issue and not due to any changes in your hosted environment.

As a workaround, you can access files from your local hard drive and any mapped network drives from within File Explorer within the Citrix session, provided you have Read/Write permissions set for your session.

Alternatively, you may wish to roll back to Citrix Workspace app 2403.1 and disable auto updates:

  1. Right click the Citrix Receiver for Windows icon in the notification area of the task bar.

  2. Select Advanced Preferences and then select Auto Update link.

  3. Select No, don't notify me to disable this feature and prevent Citrix from automatically prompting for updates when new versions are released.
